The fifty-first Toronto International Film Festival was scheduled for September 10–20, 2026; that period had ended by our October 8 update. The official TIFF ticket page records the programme and its date and venue filters. Remaining sales buttons do not establish another festival in October. This guide preserves the rules for that edition; it is not an upcoming-opening notice or a relabelled guide to the next edition.

A city festival and admission to a particular film are separate. Destination Toronto’s festival profile confirms the dates and describes Lightbox as TIFF’s home since 2010. Start with an evening you have available, then choose a film. Walking around the neighbourhood or joining a street event does not secure a cinema seat. Use the actual screening’s date, time, venue and title when arranging your trip.

The 2026 organiser’s visit guide distinguishes Ticketmaster.ca purchases from tickets bought through TIFF Festival Account Manager, Customer Relations or the box office. Manage the former through Ticketmaster and the latter through Account Manager’s My Events. That edition used Safetix: screenshots were not valid, and tickets for another person required the purchasing platform’s transfer function. Identify the account holding your order before relying on an emailed receipt or a shared image.

Ticketmaster’s current Mobile Entry instructions recommend adding eligible tickets to a mobile wallet so they remain accessible without venue internet. If the app is unavailable, its instructions allow a mobile browser to add tickets to the wallet. This is platform guidance, not evidence that an expired TIFF screening has reopened. Before leaving, each traveller can check the account, completed transfer and phone charge; ask the original ticket platform for help rather than attempting entry with a screenshot.

For the 2026 edition, TIFF recommended arriving thirty minutes early and held assigned public-screening seats until fifteen minutes before the start; seats could then go to the Rush Line. Neither late arrival nor joining that line guaranteed a seat. The same guide stated that sales were non-refundable and set a 12 × 12 × 6-inch bag limit. For a later event, read its own terms before applying these historical conditions.

That edition used Lightbox, Roy Thomson Hall and other cinemas with different entrances. The guide recorded King Street closures and a suspension of the 504 streetcar between University and Spadina for September 10–13. Those were dated opening-weekend measures, not ongoing October service rules. For a new journey, check service for the travel day and the actual venue. Include meals, luggage storage and the final walk in your timing.

Discuss the film’s language, subtitles, running time and available gaps before booking consecutive screenings. For access needs, the organiser provided customer-service and on-site assistance; ask about the specific venue instead of assuming every downtown location works alike. Our Toronto city guide can support daytime planning. This article records the 2026 edition and a planning method, without promising future fares, timetables or celebrity appearances.
