A shopping day around Metro Vancouver does not need to cover five districts. Decide whether you want mall dining, street-front shops, caf\u00e9s, historic streets or shopping followed by the beach, then choose a manageable starting area. This comparison covers four areas within Vancouver and Golden Village in the separate city of Richmond. They are not neighbouring streets or a ranking that assigns preferences by ethnicity. Indoor rest stops, walking distance and the actual opening hours of your chosen businesses matter more than a neighbourhood’s promotional label.<\/p>\n

Chinatown’s core: Carrall to Gore, between Keefer and East Hastings<\/td>\nHistoric streets and businesses, with individual addresses and opening hours<\/td>\nStadium\u2013Chinatown station is at Beatty and Dunsmuir. Its name does not eliminate the walk to the district’s core.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Kitsilano’s West 4th shopping strip: Fir to Balsam<\/td>\nShopping and dining, with a possible separate visit to Kitsilano Beach<\/td>\nBuses 4 and 44 have relevant stops, but their stopping patterns, directions and downtown boarding points differ. The beach is near Cornwall and Yew.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/div>\n

Railway locations above come from TransLink’s station information<\/a>. Check the actual route 3<\/a>, route 4<\/a> and route 44<\/a> services separately. Enter your accommodation and first shop’s full address into a journey planner, then review that day’s alerts, transfers and return trip. These are planning starting points, not promises of fixed journey times, identical destinations on every departure or a single fare covering an entire day of travel between districts.<\/p>\n

Golden Village can combine malls and meals, but it is not the whole of Richmond. Tourism Richmond’s Food Street guide<\/a> identifies the Alexandra Road dining strip as part of Golden Village. Both malls named in the previous guide still publish their own business and visitor information: Aberdeen Centre<\/a> is at 4151 Hazelbridge Way, while Yaohan Centre<\/a> is at 3700 No. 3 Road. Retail and dining choices do not imply identical language services, menus or prices in every shop. For older companions or particular dietary needs, check seating, washrooms, ingredients and communication directly.<\/p>\n

Mall hours also differ. At review, Aberdeen listed 11:00\u201319:00 Monday\u2013Thursday, until 20:00 Friday\u2013Saturday and until 19:00 Sunday and public holidays, with exceptions for individual retailers. Yaohan listed daily hours of 09:00\u201321:00 on the first floor, 11:00\u201319:00 on the second and 09:00\u201322:00 for the supermarket. A restaurant’s last order is not necessarily the mall’s closing time. Use the Aberdeen hours<\/a> and Yaohan floor schedules<\/a> to narrow your plans, then check the specific business.<\/p>\n

Main Street is long: the stretch from East 6th all the way to East 25th should not simply be labelled Mount Pleasant. This guide selects East 6th\u2013East 16th as a defined shopping walk. The Mount Pleasant BIA’s area history<\/a> places the neighbourhood’s southern boundary at 16th Avenue, while the City’s introduction<\/a> identifies the Broadway\u2013Kingsway\u2013Main junction as a shopping focus. Use the business directory<\/a> to look for caf\u00e9s, clothing, music or homewares, then verify addresses. Claims of almost no chains, guaranteed vintage bargains or an uninterrupted row of shops are not reliable promises. Continuing south to 25th is an additional stretch with its own distances and businesses.<\/p>\n

Commercial Drive’s Italian Canadian history helps explain the area; it does not classify every present-day business or resident. The BIA’s Little Italy history<\/a> confirms that eight blocks received recognition in 2016. The City Council’s 2016 document<\/a> describes four blocks north and four south of East 1st Avenue, not eight on each side or all of The Drive. Choose a caf\u00e9 or restaurant and add nearby shops. The 2026 World Cup has ended: its viewing atmosphere is not evidence of screenings, regular events or available seats now. Check each venue’s current programme for a particular match or performance.<\/p>\n

For Chinatown’s core, use the City’s boundary description<\/a>. There is no need to promise Canada’s largest Chinatown or explain restaurant arrivals through supposed cheap rents without comparable data. Choose actual addresses around East Pender and Keefer, then plan a walk through the historic streets. Older buildings, cultural venues and shops have different access arrangements; walking past a building does not mean entry is free. Avoid labelling the entire neighbourhood safe or dangerous. Choose a time and route that suit your companions and return journey, and check specific access requirements individually.<\/p>\n

West 4th is one shopping strip within Kitsilano. The West 4th BIA<\/a> identifies its area as Fir to Balsam and provides individual business information. In the eastbound route 4 stop list<\/a> reviewed, stops include Balsam, Yew, Maple, Burrard and Fir. The route 44 lists<\/a> have fewer stops in this shopping area, including West 4th at Yew in both directions, and use the Burrard corridor downtown. Route 44 is therefore not an interchangeable same-stop version of route 4. Choose the UBC direction when travelling towards UBC. Some 44 trips extend to Dundrave; not every departure crosses the bridge. Check direction and exact stops before choosing.<\/p>\n

For a beach visit, the City’s Kitsilano Beach page<\/a> locates the beach on Cornwall Avenue at the north end of Yew Street. Your starting shop, slopes and companions’ pace affect the walk, so every business cannot be described as just a few minutes from the beach. A shoreline walk is also different from swimming, using the pool or visiting during lifeguard hours. Seasonal facilities should not be treated as available year-round.<\/p>\n

Richmond Night Market in 2026: a separate seasonal visit<\/h4>\n

The night market is a seasonal, ticketed event. A visit to Golden Village does not automatically include it. The organiser’s 2026 homepage hours and admission section<\/a> gives the season as April 24\u2013September 20. On the review date, September 17, the final weekend was therefore September 18\u201320. This does not establish opening dates after September 20 or for 2027. The website still contains promotional wording from before the World Cup; that future framing is not used here.<\/p>\n

Published hours are 19:00\u201324:00 on Fridays, Saturdays and long-weekend Sundays, and 19:00\u201323:00 on regular Sundays and statutory holidays. The visitor questions specify Friday\u2013Sunday evenings and long-weekend Mondays, not daily weekday opening. Under those published hours, September 18 and 19 run 19:00\u201324:00 and September 20 runs 19:00\u201323:00. These are the organiser’s announced seasonal hours, not a retrospective record confirming that each evening actually took place.<\/p>\n

The same official admission information and seasonal promotional graphic<\/a> list general admission at CAD 7, with free admission for children under 7 and people aged 60 or over. The After Party graphic advertises CAD 5 entry after 22:00 on operating evenings. Under 7 does not include age 7, and the late offer is not an all-day price. Admission includes access to the market and free main-stage entertainment; food, drinks, rides and other games cost extra. An entrance ticket is not an all-inclusive meal package.<\/p>\n

The 2026 Zoom Pass is advertised at CAD 40, transferable and usable through a priority entrance. The organiser says both Zoom Passes and general admission are sold onsite only, with no online advance sales. Do not assume unlimited visits or validity in a later year: check the season’s printed entry allowance and expiry, especially when deciding whether a pass is useful so close to September 20. A separate Family FunPass graphic promotes a food-and-games bundle available in the game area. It is a different product from Zoom Pass, and its name alone does not make it a general admission ticket. The visitor questions say most vendors take cash and a few also accept credit or debit cards. That does not mean every stall accepts cards, or establish the ticket booth’s payment methods.<\/p>\n

The organiser directs transit visitors towards Bridgeport on the Canada Line, separately from the Aberdeen mall cluster. The homepage location section gives 2431 No. 3 Road, while the visitor questions and footer give 8351 River Road; their map markers also differ. Use the organiser’s location map and onsite entrance signs to check the walking approach. Ask the organiser about an accessible entrance if needed, rather than treating the two addresses as an interchangeable doorway. During review, the official Ticket & Hours link showed a page-not-found message. The hours and admission figures here come from the still-readable homepage sections.<\/p>\n

For all five areas, build a budget from transport, actual meals, purchases and separately ticketed activities. Unsupported fixed spending averages for entire districts are not useful substitutes. Check the selected businesses’ current menus or prices, including taxes, service charges, minimum spends and return conditions. At the night market, keep entry and individual purchases separate. Public streets have no district-wide entrance ticket, but that does not make every venue or event free. Directories help identify options; each business’s own conditions determine opening hours, reservations and dietary arrangements.
