Seafood, ramen, dim sum and coffee need not all become separate cross-city trips. These options draw on information published by the venues; they are not a personal tasting ranking, and Metro Vancouver is not one walkable restaurant district.

Original AI illustration for Let’s Canada; not a photograph of a featured restaurant or a representation of its menu or portions.

Granville Island Public Market brings food stalls, baking and prepared meals together. Its visitor page currently gives regular market hours of 9 a.m.–6 p.m., with holiday and January maintenance closures. A café opening earlier does not mean every stall is open. Browse before choosing breakfast or lunch; use the Granville Island guide for the visit, without assuming every vendor sells salmon sandwiches or cooks purchases on request.

Do not rely on “May and June” alone to plan a live spot-prawn meal. A 2026 DFO North Coast notice records a noon opening on May 13 for trap-caught prawns and shrimp in specified waters, with exclusions and later closure procedures. It is a regional historical notice, not evidence that all BC fisheries are open today or that a restaurant has stock. Ask about the species, origin and day’s availability; an ordinary prawn dish is not necessarily spot prawns.

Buying from a boat in Steveston does not guarantee the lowest price or a same-day catch. The harbour authority’s buying guide explains that fresh generally means never frozen, while commercially flash-frozen seafood is not automatically inferior; the authority does not set prices. Ask how crab, salmon or prawns are weighed, priced and prepared, and whether they were thawed. Keep purchases cold in transit. Without a kitchen or suitable cooling, make the market visit and a restaurant meal separate plans.

For a seated seafood dinner, Blue Water Cafe at 1095 Hamilton Street in Yaletown lists chilled seafood and sushi, with daily features available at the restaurant. Check the particular species and origin rather than assuming every oyster is from BC. The Ocean Wise partner map can help locate recommended seafood; ask which items qualify. A restaurant’s presence on the map does not establish that its entire menu is local, wild-caught or assessed alike.

Build a Happy Hour stop around the restaurant’s own schedule. Joe Fortes’ Vancouver menu page currently lists 3–5 p.m. daily, with indoor reservations available. A universal 6 p.m. finish or an old one-to-two-dollar oyster estimate would be misleading. Check the applicable menu, that day’s items and seating before cutting another afternoon activity short.

For ramen, choose among the Robson, W. Broadway and Richmond locations listed by Santouka. Its specialty is white tonkotsu broth, not a clear pork broth. Compare broth, noodle portions, toppings and set meals instead of applying one old per-person estimate to every branch. If you need to avoid an ingredient, confirm the broth and toppings with the specific restaurant; the dish name alone is not enough.

Treat dim sum and Taiwanese tea cafés as different meal choices. Kirin at 1172 Alberni Street starts lunch at 11 a.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. on weekends and holidays; its Richmond location, unit 200 at 7900 Westminster Highway, lists a 10 a.m. lunch opening. For bubble tea with rice, noodles or snacks, Pearl Castle Cafe lists Taiwanese and Chinese café food at unit 1128, 3779 Sexsmith Road in Continental Centre. It should not simply be labelled a Hong Kong dim sum restaurant. Confirm your party size, the lunch or dinner menu and last orders when booking.

For a separate Korean-food outing, explore North Road in Coquitlam through the Tourism Coquitlam dining directory. Its choices include barbecue, fried chicken, soups and cafés; they are not all all-you-can-eat restaurants. Check how many people a set serves and any minimum order before comparing totals. North Road and Richmond should not be treated as one walking route merely because both are in Metro Vancouver.

Coffee fits naturally into a Gastown walk. Revolver, at 325 Cambie Street, currently lists Monday–Saturday, 7:30 a.m.–5 p.m., and Sunday closure. Nemesis Gastown, at 302 W Hastings Street, lists 8 a.m.–4 p.m. every day. That distinction matters on a Sunday; ask about particular pastries, power outlets or staying to work instead of assuming they are available. Combine one convenient stop with a Gastown walk rather than queuing at both.

The suggested combinations below are planning options, not a route personally tested by the writer. Allow time for meals and travel before adding dessert. If you also want the Richmond Night Market, check that date’s opening and admission conditions; it is not an everyday, year-round dinner fallback. Budget separately for food, drinks, applicable taxes and service charges. For seafood, establish whether the quote is per item, pound or serving, then check the bill.

Day’s focus

Food combination

Check first

Market and Downtown

Granville Island lunch and a separate Downtown dinner

Market closures, travel time and restaurant booking

Gastown walk

Coffee and one nearby meal

Revolver’s Sunday closure; the correct Nemesis branch

Richmond dining

Kirin dim sum or Pearl Castle food and bubble tea

Different addresses and meal styles; night-market dates separately

Plan a Vancouver food day around verified restaurant locations, seafood availability, dim sum, Taiwanese tea cafés and coffee hours, with practical choices for Downtown and Richmond.

date_time: 2026-07-05 | money_price: $15 / $16 / $20 / $25 / $6 | sports_result: 2026-07 | superlative_record: 官方 | opening_hours_fare: Hour / 票價
["https://granvilleisland.com/public-market","https://www-ops2.pac.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/fns-sap/index-eng.cfm?DOC_ID=353514&pg=view_notice","https://stevestonharbour.com/fishermans-wharf/sales-float-purchasing-tips/","https://ocean.org/action/buy-sustainable-seafood/","https://bluewatercafe.ca/menu/","https://www.joefortes.ca/menus/vancouver/","https://santouka-canada.com/","https://www.kirinrestaurants.com/locations/","https://www.pearlcastle.com/","https://visitcoquitlam.ca/eat-drink/","https://revolvercoffee.ca/pages/contact-us","https://www.nemesis.coffee/collections/
[41,135
563,121,251
773
778
811
829
post-3308","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-vancouver","category-canada-food","tag-563","tag-seafood","tag-251","lc_primary_section-destination-guides","lc_location-vancouver","lc_topic-food","lc_freshness-annual
["GET
