Toronto’s 2026 World Cup matches have ended. This is a historical review of pricing and resale rules, not a guide to tickets that are still on sale. The City records six local matches, from Canada’s June 12 appearance to the July 2 round of 32, and a Fan Festival running June 11–July 19. We have withdrawn the previous article’s match-by-match Canadian-dollar table and inventory percentages because no traceable official snapshots support them. They cannot establish which seats were actually available at those prices. City of Toronto.

Prices could change, but that did not mean an algorithm automatically raised them with demand. FIFA’s post-tournament ticketing explanation describes variable pricing: prices could be reviewed and adjusted during sales phases according to demand and availability for each match. It explicitly says prices were not automatically modified through a dynamic pricing model. A quote from one date was therefore not a tournament-wide fixed price, nor proof that buying later always cost more, Canadian matches were always cheapest, or a particular budget guaranteed a particular category. FIFA.

A resale listing price and the buyer’s final payment also differ. FIFA’s historical explanation lists a resale/exchange fee of 15% of the total price, inclusive of taxes, with the final cost including that fee displayed at purchase. Selling was not guaranteed; it depended on demand. Canadian, American and other international residents used the resale marketplace, while Mexican residents used a separate exchange marketplace. These were arrangements for the 2026 tournament, not promises about the next edition’s fees or procedures. FIFA.

Toronto tickets should not be analysed on the assumption that resale markups were unrestricted. FIFA states that, following Ontario legislative changes, World Cup tickets for Toronto Stadium could be listed only at or below the original amount paid to FIFA, including taxes and fees. This particular Canadian restriction applied to Toronto matches; it cannot be treated as the same rule for Vancouver or the whole country. FIFA.

Ontario’s current consumer guidance distinguishes the original total, the resale price and additional transaction costs. The original total includes the base price, fees, service charges and taxes. Resale cannot exceed that original total, although applicable taxes and the resale platform’s standard service fees may be added. Listings must disclose the original price, itemized charges and total resale price. When reviewing an old order, compare the same match, currency, seat and all-in cost, rather than search-page starting prices. A legal requirement alone does not establish that an individual historical sale complied with it. Government of Ontario.

Transaction protections require actual documents too. Ontario’s buying guidance calls for written proof of validity from the primary seller or a written money-back guarantee from the secondary seller or platform. A ticket screenshot is not a substitute. We have not verified any reader’s transaction and do not recommend unapproved resale links. For the Canadian hosting context, see the Canadian World Cup historical review; keep this completed tournament separate from the current ticketing conditions for future events.
