Programming, times and ticket prices are subject to the organizers&#8217; latest announcements.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re in Vancouver this weekend and looking for outdoor fun that won&#8217;t cost much, you don&#8217;t have to travel far. On the same Saturday, Kitsilano&#8217;s West 4th Avenue closes to traffic for the city&#8217;s biggest free music party, while Jonathan Rogers Park in Mount Pleasant hosts what&#8217;s billed as the largest Latin American carnival in the Pacific Northwest. One is made for wandering and listening for free; the other is worth buying a ticket, sitting down and handing your whole afternoon over to Latin bands. Vancouver outlet Daily Hive counts over 50 food trucks along the route, on top of West 4th&#8217;s own restaurants and patios; there&#8217;s also a dedicated Khats Kids Stage at Trafalgar Street. It&#8217;s free all day and perfect for sleeping in and drifting over \u2014 listen wherever you land.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Carnaval del Sol (budget-friendly):<\/strong> Organized by Latincouver, its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carnavaldelsol.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">official site<\/a> calls it the largest Latin American festival in the Pacific Northwest. This year it runs July 10 to 12 at Jonathan Rogers Park and brings together more than 350 performers, with live music, dance and food from across Latin America all three days, plus a Latin parade on the final day. Single-day general admission starts at about CAD 15, with free entry for children under 12 and seniors 65+; if you want to catch opening night (July 10) with Mexican rock band El Gran Silencio, that concert is ticketed separately. If you&#8217;d rather sit down, enjoy an afternoon of Latin music and take care of lunch and dinner in one place, this is the better value.<\/p>\n<p>A transit note: on Khatsahlano day there&#8217;s no car traffic on West 4th, so driving is actually harder \u2014 a bus or a bike is easiest; Carnaval is a short walk from both the Main Street\u2013Science World and Olympic Village SkyTrain stations. If you want to add downtown to the trip, Granville&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/lets-canada.com\/en\/vancouvers-granville-street-pedestrian-zone-extended-to-september-city-council-adds-4-75m-to-keep-the-world-cup-buzz-alive\/\">pedestrian zone has been extended to September<\/a> this year and stays lively on weekends.<\/p>\n<p>Choosing between them really comes down to the pace you want: for free, casual, stop-and-go, pick Khatsahlano; for a full Latin band lineup and a proper stage to sit at, choose Carnaval del Sol.
