Information checked on 2 October 2026. The 2026 World Cup volunteer programme is historical. This review covers that edition’s recruitment conditions, service rules and Toronto’s planned city services; it is not a new recruitment notice.

FIFA’s May 2025 recruitment notice required applicants to be at least 18, have a good command of English and be available for pre-event training. The programme covered three co-host countries. International applicants still had to meet the relevant host country’s entry requirements; a volunteer application was not permission to enter. Toronto’s November 2025 fact sheet planned approximately 3,000 volunteers for fan experiences, accessibility, media and event logistics. It included Fan Festival support and Host City Ambassador service outside stadiums, at airports, transit hubs and visitor sites. These were pre-event plans, not verified final service totals or personal accounts. FIFA tournament overview Official source

The 2026 Volunteer Rules of Play stated that accreditation was not a match ticket, programme participation did not entitle volunteers to watch matches, and all assigned training was required. FIFA’s general volunteer data policy separately lists background checks, accreditation and role-specific training, with transport only “if needed”; it does not promise identical benefits. Results and format links provide tournament background, not evidence of volunteer entitlements. FIFA results Official source Official source
