Bosnia and Herzegovina closed out their 2026 World Cup Group B campaign with a 3-1 win over Qatar at Seattle Stadium (Lumen Field). In the 29th minute, 18-year-old Kerim Alajbegovic cut inside, beat two defenders and drilled a right-footed shot into the net, becoming one of the youngest scorers in World Cup history and the youngest ever for Bosnia and Herzegovina. Five minutes later they doubled their lead when Qatar defender Mahmoud Abunada turned the ball into his own goal in the 34th minute. Qatar refused to fold, and captain Hassan Al-Haidos pulled one back in the 42nd minute to make it 2-1 at the break. Ermin Mahmic settled the contest in the 80th minute to seal the 3-1 result. There were no red cards, and no VAR reversals or penalties.
The victory left Bosnia and Herzegovina third in Group B on four points from one win, one draw and one defeat, enough to advance to the round of 32 as one of the best third-placed teams. It marks their first-ever progression to the World Cup knockout stage, having previously appeared only in 2014, while Qatar finished bottom of the group and were eliminated. Bosnia’s next test comes on 1 July at San Francisco Bay Area Stadium in Santa Clara, California, against the United States, who topped Group D.
