In their second Group L match of the 2026 World Cup, England were held to a 0-0 draw by Ghana at Boston Stadium, where a crowd of roughly 63,983 watched a game dominated by defence. Thomas Tuchel’s side pressed for long spells but could not find a way through: Declan Rice headed over in the 37th minute, and Anthony Gordon’s effort flew straight at goalkeeper Benjamin Asare in the 57th. England grew more urgent after the break, and in the 87th minute substitute Nico O’Reilly’s header struck the crossbar before Harry Kane blazed the rebound over with the goal gaping; deep in stoppage time, in the 90+3rd minute, Marc Guehi’s header was cleared off the line. Carlos Queiroz’s Ghana held firm throughout, even appealing to VAR when Ezri Konsa’s challenge on Prince Adu went unpunished.
The point left England top of Group L on four points, level with a Ghana side also on four, with both edging closer to the knockout rounds. England close out the group stage next, facing Panama on 27 June, when a win would secure top spot, while Ghana take on Croatia.
