The Netherlands produced a five-star display to beat Sweden 5-1 in their Group F clash at Houston Stadium in the 2026 World Cup. Anthony Elanga pulled one back for Sweden on the counter in the 59th minute, but it proved little more than a consolation, and substitute Crysencio Summerville rounded off the rout with a strike in the 89th minute. Sweden did have a Gustaf Lagerbielke header ruled out for offside in first-half stoppage time, one of the few decisive calls to shape the contest.
The win was the Netherlands’ first of the tournament, lifting them to four points and to the top of Group F with qualification looking firmly within reach, while the defeat dented Sweden’s momentum in the group.
