After opening the 2026 World Cup with a 1–1 draw against Bosnia and Herzegovina in Toronto on June 12, Canada’s men’s team arrived in Vancouver on June 16. Its next two matches were scheduled at BC Place. Canada Soccer’s report at the time records the arrival, while the official match page confirms the opening result.
Canada’s base camp was the National Soccer Development Centre on the University of British Columbia campus. Canada Soccer announced the choice before the tournament, and UBC documented the centre’s role as a team training base. Those records establish the venue arrangement; they do not prove that it created a sporting advantage.
On June 18, Canada beat Qatar 6–0 at BC Place. The official record credits Cyle Larin, two first-half goals to Jonathan David, Nathan-Dylan Saliba and an own goal; two Qatar players were sent off.
