The CN Tower is in downtown Toronto. The Main Observation Level is 346 metres above the ground; one level below are the Glass Floor, Outdoor Terrace, OverView and Artmosphere. The Top is a separate, higher viewing level. Whether to add it depends on the view you want and your budget. For a first visit, compare ticket inclusions, entry time and your route before planning the day around the tower.

Choose a ticket before deciding on The Top

Timed General Admission includes the Main and Lower Observation Levels. The lower level has the Glass Floor, an outdoor terrace, OverView and Artmosphere. The Top is higher and can be added to a timed ticket in advance or, subject to availability, at the Main Observation Level. Flex lets you choose an arrival time on the selected date; Premier adds priority access and elevator arrangements. Compare current inclusions on the official ticket page, rather than relying on an old article or a third-party screenshot.

The Top is 33 storeys above the Main Observation Level, at about 447 metres. The Tower’s observation-level overview says visibility may reach roughly 160 km on a clear day; that is a possible sightline, not a daily guarantee. If your priorities are the city view, Glass Floor and terrace, first compare what General Admission already includes. If you want the higher platform as well, check the current add-on terms and availability.

Timed admission is for the selected entry time. The Tower’s FAQ says visitors may stay on the Main Observation Level until closing after entering, but the ticket covers one trip up the Tower. Do not assume that the same ticket will let you leave for a meal or hotel break and return to the levels later.

Prices can change. The Tower says tickets may be bought up to 30 days ahead and timed admission is for the selected date and entry time. Buy through the CN Tower or a verified ticket partner it names, and check the product, levels included, time, taxes and terms before paying. If you also plan to visit the aquarium, compare the official Sea the Sky package; CityPASS value depends on whether you will visit its other attractions. Observation admission, dining at 360 and EdgeWalk are separate experiences.

Arrive via Union Station and leave time for checks

The main entrance is at 290 Bremner Blvd. From TTC, GO Transit or UP Express, go to Union Station, then walk west along Bremner Boulevard or follow the indoor SkyWalk; Tower signs inside the station point the way. The CN Tower’s official directions page covers current ways to get there and on-site guidance. Union Station is being reconstructed in stages, so entrances may temporarily change. If you need an elevator or step-free route, check the TTC’s Union Station information and elevator alerts before leaving. Nearby parking is paid; follow local signs for drop-off and pick-up on Bremner Boulevard.

The CN Tower generally recommends allowing about two hours for the full visit. Timed entry, queues, weather and your pace affect the day. Check the official hours page on the day for last entry and partial closures. Clouds, rain and visibility change the view. The Tower says a clear day may offer a long sightline from The Top, but no particular landmark is guaranteed; keep photo timing flexible.

Cameras, phones and tablets are welcome; tripods are allowed if they do not disrupt other guests. Staff inspect bags. Bags must be smaller than 53 × 23 × 38 cm; there are no lockers, and larger luggage cannot be brought inside. The Main and Lower Observation Levels are accessible; the second level of The Top requires climbing 12 steps. Review the Tower’s accessibility information and contact the venue if you need to plan a specific accommodation.
