Canada’s largest and longest-running juried contemporary outdoor art fair, the Toronto Outdoor Art Fair (TOAF), marks its 65th edition this year, running July 10 to 12 at Nathan Phillips Square in front of City Hall. As always, admission is free, with organizers expecting around 170,000 visitors. This year’s milestone anniversary makes it the most ambitious edition yet, featuring more than 400 artists from across Canada.
To mark the 65th anniversary, organizers have added a few special features. Koffler Arts is hosting a companion exhibition called “Don’t Look Back” from June 25 to July 19, curated by David Liss, looking back at TOAF’s 65-year history. There’s also a gathering called “Art Nest: A Forward Retreat,” bringing together several veteran Canadian artists — including Peggy Baker, Max Dean, Naomi Dodds, Micah Lexier and Ed Pien — to reflect on artistic longevity and creative practice. On Saturday, July 11, from 6:30 to 9 p.m., there’s also a free public birthday party at Nathan Phillips Square with live entertainment and celebrations.
