For a Vancouver brewery outing, start by choosing between East Vancouver’s Yeast Van area and Port Moody’s Brewers Row. Then select stops around your companions’ food, children’s admission and travel needs. These are separate outings, not one continuous walking route, and there is no need to finish the whole list. The options below draw on venues’ published information; they are not accounts of personal visits, city-wide rankings or recommended drinking quantities.

Plan the journey home before planning your stops. ICBC’s advice on alcohol and travel is to choose transit, a taxi or ride-hailing service, or a designated driver who remains sober, before going out. If drinking, leave the car at home. Do not use a drink count, food consumed or distance walked to decide whether you can drive. Check the final connection home as well: knowing there is a nearby SkyTrain station is not enough. Companions can also choose not to drink; check food and non-alcoholic options in advance.
The legal drinking age in BC is 19. Under the province’s age and identification guidance, a requested ID check requires government identification showing name, photograph and date of birth, plus another piece showing name and a signature or photograph. Foreign government ID is acceptable; digital ID is not. A passport alone does not replace the second piece. Admission of minors also depends on the premises’ licence, the particular area and the operator’s rules: the word “brewery” does not mean every venue admits children or that every venue is strictly 19+. The tables report conditions found in official information. Where children’s admission, outside food or reservations are not specified, contact that venue first; silence is not permission.
East Van: choose a street cluster before arranging transport
The East Van options are spread around Powell, Commercial, Triumph, Hastings, Venables, Adanac and Clark. You could select stops around Powell and Commercial, or choose a separate Venables–Adanac–Clark group. Use your first venue’s full address to choose your arrival point. Commercial–Broadway is not the nearest station to every brewery, and “10–20 minutes between any two” is not a reliable rule. A walking plan needs actual crossings, gradients, construction and the group’s pace. The addresses below locate venues; they do not guarantee travel times between them.
| Brewery and address | Verified food and admission arrangements |
|---|---|
| Parallel 49 / Street Kitchen, 1950 Triumph St | Indoor food-truck kitchen and tasting flights; the website welcomes children. Reservation requests require confirmation from the venue. Ordinary pets are not admitted; service animals are excepted. |
| Storm Brewing, 310 Commercial Dr | Its official contact page lists opening times explicitly labelled summer hours. Current food, children’s admission and booking details were not sufficiently documented; do not treat it as a confirmed family meal stop. |
| Strathcona Hastings taproom, 895 E Hastings St | Pizza kitchen, tasting flights and a reservation link. This is the Vancouver venue; do not apply the North Vancouver branch’s policies. Ask separately about children. |
| Powell Brewery, 1357 Powell St | The contact page lists Monday closure and the other days’ hours. Ask the venue about food on the day, children and reservations where these are not published. |
| Off The Rail, 1351 Adanac St | The operator confirms tasting flights. There is no full kitchen, but patties, samosas, snacks and selected hot food are offered. This does not establish permission for any outside food. Ask about children and reservations. |
| Strange Fellows, 1345 Clark Dr | Its published food menu starts at 14:00. Group enquiries need a reply. These pages do not specify general children’s admission; Halloween-event age rules do not establish everyday policy. |
| Luppolo, 1123 Venables St | Pizza menu; outside food is not allowed. Children need an accompanying adult. Limited reservations are accepted; the seasonal patio is first come, first served. Leashed dogs may use the patio, not the tasting room; service animals have separate provisions. |
Opening hours are not a shared afternoon-to-late-night schedule. On the review date, Powell listed Tuesday–Thursday 14:00–21:00, Friday–Saturday 12:00–22:00 and Sunday 12:00–20:00; Luppolo’s Monday hours were 15:00–21:00. Off The Rail listed Sunday–Thursday 12:00–21:00 and Friday–Saturday until 22:00. Strange Fellows listed Sunday–Wednesday 12:00–21:00, Thursday until 22:00 and Friday–Saturday until 23:00. These are published regular hours; holidays and private events can differ. Strathcona’s two official pages disagree on Thursday closing, giving 22:00 and 23:00. Confirm a late visit rather than choosing the later time. Sources: Powell hours, Luppolo FAQ, Off The Rail hours, Strange Fellows hours and Strathcona contact page.
Andina is no longer a current stop in this list. Threefold identifies 1507 Powell St as its brewery collective, with pizza and its own opening hours. Slow Hand also directs visitors to its tasting space at Threefold at that address. This establishes the current venue name, not continuity of Andina’s menu, children’s admission or reservation terms. An old website remaining accessible is not proof of continued operation.
Use TransLink’s route and station information to check your first destination and the journey home. The Hastings corridor also has a stop-change project: at this review, its official page still described new R5 stops at Campbell as proposed, not available new stops. Luppolo’s FAQ mentions bus 22 near Venables, but check the direction, exact stop and diversions for your travel date. That does not mean one stop serves the entire East Van list.
Port Moody: Murray Street and a separate return journey
The City of Port Moody locates Brewers Row along a few blocks of Murray Street. Take the Millennium Line to Moody Centre and continue on foot towards Murray Street. The city’s walking guide estimates about 10 minutes from Moody Centre to Rocky Point Park. That estimate is for those endpoints, not a fixed walk to every brewery. Rocky Point Park, at 2800 Murray St, offers a walking stop without drinking; check any relevant facility or trail notices for the day.
| Brewery and address | Food, children and reservation differences |
|---|---|
| Yellow Dog, 2817 Murray St | The Port Moody FAQ lists snacks and rotating food trucks. Children must stay seated, within arm’s reach of a parent or legal guardian. Seating is generally first come, first served, with enquiries possible for larger groups. Ordinary dogs are not allowed in the brewery or picnic area: Penticton’s dog-patio policy does not apply. |
| Twin Sails, 2821 Murray St | The FAQ lists snacks and permits outside food. Children require a legal guardian. Ordinary reservations are not accepted; seating is first come, first served. Dogs are limited to the patio, with an exception for service dogs. Brewery tours are not currently offered. |
| Parkside, 2731 Murray St | The FAQ says there is no kitchen. Guests may bring food; trucks appear on most days, subject to the schedule. Children must remain with a parent or guardian. Group bookings can be requested Monday–Thursday and occasionally at weekends, without guaranteed availability. Ordinary dogs may use the front patio. Brewery tours are not currently offered. |
| Rewind, 2809 Murray St | Pizza and non-alcoholic drinks are available; pizza may sell out early. Ordinary reservations are not accepted, with limited small-group enquiries for Mondays and Wednesdays; private events are separate. The official page reviewed does not state a general children’s policy, so check directly before bringing children. |
On the review date, the Port Moody rooms of Twin Sails, Parkside, Rewind and Yellow Dog all published Sunday–Thursday 12:00–22:00 and Friday–Saturday 12:00–23:00. See Twin Sails’ contact page, Parkside’s hours, Rewind’s venue information and Yellow Dog’s contact page. Rewind’s kitchen and tasting room close at different times: closing time is not the last food-order time. Nor should Yellow Dog’s Penticton brunch hours be used for a Port Moody outing.
Two older names also need replacing. North Point’s own Port Moody page explicitly says its venue at 2601 Murray St is now open; that address should not remain listed as Moody Ales’ current tasting room. Brave’s contact page identifies its venue and hours at 2617 Murray St, so The Bakery Brewing name should not be carried forward. Neither old name appears in the current-stop table. A change of name or address occupant does not establish that ownership, beers, food or children’s policies transferred unchanged.
Build a budget from return transport, food and the drinks actually chosen, checking whether tax and gratuities are extra. There is no need to set a target number of breweries or drinks per person. A flight is an operator-defined tasting selection, not one standard drink in health guidance, and not every brewery offers one. Flights are identified here only where the operator documents them; old glass prices and four-taster combinations are not treated as city-wide standards. For a full meal, check kitchen service hours. If relying on a food truck, keep an alternative meal plan.
Check large festivals separately rather than treating one as a guaranteed addition to these routes. As of September 17, 2026, the VCBW official homepage displays the Craft Beer & Wing Fest brand and an information signup, but no date for the next edition. Another accessible event page combines a 2027 signup with promotion for June 20, 2026, now past. That does not prove the 2026 event occurred or that a July 2027 return is confirmed. Without a verifiable explicit announcement from the organizer, it cannot establish a cancellation reason or return date. For other city plans, see our Vancouver travel guide and retain time for your chosen neighbourhood and journey home.
