The 2026 World Cup has ended. This article separates three kinds of Canadian viewing event used during the tournament: an official host-city FIFA Fan Festival, a separate city public screening, and a commercial watch party at a bar or restaurant. Their organizers, dates, admission methods and capacity terms were different. The record below includes only claims supported by official source documents and post-event evidence. It does not present temporary 2026 arrangements as current events.

Toronto: 22 days announced, 23 event days reported afterwards
On May 6, 2026, the City of Toronto announced that FIFA Fan Festival Toronto would operate at Fort York National Historic Site and The Bentway on 22 event days between June 11 and July 19, timed to tournament match days. That was a date range rather than a promise of daily operation. General admission was free but still required a reservation and a digital barcode. A transaction could reserve no more than four general-admission tickets. A general-admission holder could not re-enter after leaving, daily capacity was limited, and about 500 tickets per day were distributed through community organizations. Only a paid premium ticket included guaranteed entry and enhanced experiences. City of Toronto ticket announcement, May 6.
The City’s July 20 post-event fact sheet recorded the outcome differently: more than 350,000 people attended the official festival over 23 event days. The earlier 22-day plan and the later 23-day result are therefore both retained here. Neither number is replaced by the other, and the total attendance does not prove equal attendance on each day or guaranteed walk-up entry. City of Toronto post-event impact update.
Live match broadcasts at Nathan Phillips Square were a separate city public-viewing arrangement. The post-event update reported approximately 60,600 viewers there, excluding the final. The square was not another entrance to the Fort York and The Bentway festival. The same source does not transfer the festival’s reservation, no-re-entry or premium terms to the square, so this article does not invent guarantees about its booking, seating, queues or all-day operation. | Viewing type | Verified 2026 historical fact | Unsupported extension |
|---|---|---|
| Toronto official festival | Fort York / The Bentway; 22 days announced, 23 days reported; free general admission still required reservation | Free did not mean ticketless, guaranteed or re-entry |
| Vancouver official festival | PNE Grounds at Hastings Park; official schedule listed 28 open days | The June 11–July 19 range did not mean daily operation |
| City public screening | Nathan Phillips Square had a separate completed broadcast record | Toronto festival ticket terms cannot be transferred to it |
| Commercial bars / restaurants | Each venue requires its own 2026 event and entry evidence | A promotional post does not prove the event happened unchanged |
Vancouver: 28 open days, with free areas, ticketed programming and private venues kept separate
Vancouver’s official FIFA Fan Festival was held at the PNE Grounds in Hastings Park. The host page used June 11 to July 19 for the overall period, while the detailed schedule listed 28 open days and said more than 70 matches would be shown live across the site. The date span could not be restated as 39 consecutive operating days. Actual admission dates and hours depended on the daily schedule. Official Vancouver festival page, Official Vancouver daily schedule.
The schedule offered free access to match broadcasts, the Park Stage and the amphitheatre general-admission floor, but general free areas were first-come, first-served. Anyone leaving had to line up again to re-enter. Separate premium experiences included reserved seating, fast-track entry and guaranteed access, and the schedule marked selected programming “No free general admission.” A site with free areas was therefore not free for every date, performance or seat, and it did not guarantee no queue, a particular view or unlimited re-entry. The host committee’s post-event FAQ preserved daily attendance entries for actual open dates from June 11 through July 19. It supplies after-event evidence that the listed sessions occurred. This article uses those entries to confirm dated operation, not as a capacity, reservation or admission promise for a later event. Vancouver host post-event FAQ.
No bar or restaurant is named here. A commercial venue belongs in a historical guide only when first-party evidence confirms that it existed, held a 2026 viewing event on a specific date, and disclosed the applicable reservation, cover charge, age or capacity conditions. One advance promotional post is not enough to prove that an event ultimately occurred on unchanged terms. For a viewing event taking place now, reopen the organizer’s and venue’s current pages.
