The official 2026 festival profile gives September 23–27 as OIAF’s five-day period and marks its fiftieth anniversary. That period had ended by our October 8 update. This is a record of public, family and industry participation, not an invitation to an upcoming September event. Screenings, workshops and professional meetings coexisted; that did not give every ticket access to everything, nor does this article relabel the programme as a new edition.
For public attendance, the 2026 schedule identified each screening or artist talk by time and venue. The box-office guide offered individual tickets and six-packs, but not individual tickets to TAC events, parties, the Animators’ Picnic or the awards ceremony. Compare a list of desired activities with eligible ticket products rather than treating every schedule entry as an ordinary film booking. Historical prices are not quotes for the next edition, and expired sessions are not presented as available.
TAC means The Animation Conference. Its 2026 page divides September 23–25 into two TAC days and Friday’s Art + Biz. Days one and two required a valid TAC AnimaPass; Art + Biz also admitted OIAF AnimaPass holders. The ordinary AnimaPass excluded Wednesday and Thursday TAC events, which did not mean every Friday industry activity was excluded. Check the programme and the pass together instead of assigning one restriction to all three days.
The Young Audiences page records All Ages Day on September 26 at Ottawa Art Gallery and Arts Court, alongside Young Audiences 7+, Teen Audiences 13+, school visits and a teen Saturday pass. These labels do not establish that all animation suits every child. Child free-admission ages and adult single-ticket amounts differ between that page and the box-office page. We therefore publish no universal age cut-off or discount; these are historical programme distinctions, not a family offer still redeemable today.
According to the edition’s ticket instructions, most passholders did not need advance tickets, while reserving Animation Exposé talks was recommended. Continue with Eventival linked online tickets to a pass. Venue box offices opened thirty minutes before each screening or talk; that was opening time, not a festival-wide guarantee of entry or seat retention. For a later event, check the actual order, pass and session instead of using the number of ticket credits as proof of eligibility.
The schedule listed Ottawa Art Gallery, Arts Court, ByTowne Cinema and the National Arts Centre separately. Downtown Ottawa was not one interchangeable building. For consecutive events, allow time to leave, walk, find the entrance and check in, plus meals or child pickup when relevant. The retained photograph shows the gallery building in 2019; it is location context, not evidence of a 2026 screening, queue or current venue conditions.
For a short visit, start with a programme you want to attend, then fit daytime activities around its timing. Check the return journey as well as the outward trip. Choose a pass based on sessions you can actually enter, your time and its terms, without assuming additional activities automatically make it better value.
