Evergreen Brick Works is a community environmental centre on a former brickworks site in Toronto’s Don Valley, near the trails and green space of Don River Valley Park. For planning, distinguish activities and facilities on the campus from the neighbouring park trails: markets and events have their own schedules, while Evergreen’s visitor information describes Don River Valley Park as open at all times. Free admission does not mean every building, food service or program is open daily. Check Evergreen’s current events and notices before going.

Plan around a walk, a market visit or a particular event without assuming a fixed visit length or trying to cover every path. The former factory buildings, public spaces, gardens and valley trails offer different experiences depending on the season, schedule and conditions on site. If your Toronto itinerary is tight, confirm what you want to do that day before making a special trip. Evergreen’s Brick Works overview explains the site’s transition from industrial use and Evergreen’s current work there. Ground conditions in the old industrial area differ from those on natural trails; rain, snow, thawing conditions or maintenance can affect access. Do not treat a historical photo or general route description as a report on today’s conditions.

Saturday market and seasonal events

Evergreen’s Saturday Farmers Market is scheduled on Saturdays year-round, with the venue moving between outdoor and indoor spaces by season: generally outdoors from May through October and indoors from November through April. Evergreen’s official pages currently show conflicting market start times, so this guide does not give a fixed opening hour. Check the market’s current notice for that week’s hours, location and any special arrangements. Exhibitions, workshops and other events may have separate dates, fees or registration requirements; consult the What’s On page rather than treating them as daily offerings.

If trails are your main reason to visit, review the Don River Valley Park routes listed in Evergreen’s FAQ and plan for the weather, ground conditions and needs of your group. The FAQ describes the neighbouring park as open at all times and notes trails in the Pottery Road and Corktown Commons area. That refers to the park, not every Brick Works building, food service or trail entrance. Check current notices, wear suitable outdoor footwear and follow on-site directions if a route is wet or closed for maintenance.

Getting there, parking and accessibility

The address is 550 Bayview Avenue, Toronto, ON M4W 3X8. Evergreen’s getting-here information describes a free shuttle between Broadview Station Parkette and the site, usually every 30 to 45 minutes. Traffic and weather can affect service, capacity is limited, and the shuttle does not run on December 25 or January 1. The vehicle entrance has three steps, so the word “accessible” should not be taken to mean step-free boarding for every passenger. Contact Evergreen in advance if you need a specific accessible arrangement.

The TTC’s Route 28 Bayview South page lists service from Davisville Station to a stop near Evergreen Brick Works. Schedules can change; check current TTC route information for departure times, stops and service alerts. On-site parking is paid and limited. Evergreen’s pages do not show fully consistent rates, so this guide omits old prices; check the current official notice or on-site information. Evergreen also notes uneven ground, gravel and former industrial tracks in some areas. For accessible routes or facilities, review its visit-planning information and confirm details with the site.

Before leaving, use Evergreen’s visitor information to check events, open areas and services, then review city or TTC notices as needed. To place the site within a wider trip, see our Toronto travel guide and Canada attractions overview, and choose nearby stops around that day’s transit and program schedule.
