One public-transit option from Toronto is TTC Line 1 to Vaughan Metropolitan Centre, followed by YRT 20 Jane from the adjacent SmartVMC Bus Terminal to Vaughan Mills. YRT’s April 2026 route map identifies both locations; getting off the subway does not put you at the mall. Check the day’s direction, departures and last return service, allowing for the walk to the bus terminal, waiting and transfers. The TTC and YRT legs do not always require separate fares. TTC’s One Fare guidance allows an eligible free transfer to YRT within two hours of the first TTC tap when paying with a PRESTO card, PRESTO in a mobile wallet, or Interac Debit or a credit card, including a mobile wallet. Use the same card or device throughout and still tap when transferring; switching between a physical credit card and its wallet version does not satisfy that requirement. If GO Transit suits your starting point better, compare the Barrie line from Union Station to Rutherford GO, then YRT 85 to Vaughan Mills Terminal, an alternative described by YRT. Train schedules and connecting waits vary by day, so a single journey time should not be applied to every route. For a driving trip, choose the Highway 400 approach appropriate to your starting point. The mall’s LEGOLAND Discovery Centre directions describe Highway 400 northbound with the Bass Pro Mills Drive exit from the south, and Highway 400 southbound with the Rutherford Road east exit from the north, and state that mall parking is free. LEGOLAND Discovery Centre requires a separate check of tickets and admission conditions; mall opening hours are not the attraction’s full operating schedule. The operator says adults aged 18 and over must be accompanied by a child aged 17 or under during regular hours, and all children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult. Confirm luggage arrangements before arriving. The Services page locates Guest Services near H&M between Entries 4 and 5 and says the desk cannot store personal items. Paid, per-use lockers suitable for small to medium bags are offered at six entrances, with none at Entry 4A. This does not guarantee that a large suitcase will fit or that a locker will be vacant. Vaughan Mills can suit travellers with a specific shopping list or families combining shopping with an indoor activity for which they meet admission conditions. That is a planning suggestion based on the trip’s components, not a universal must-visit claim. With limited time, rank downtown sights and shopping together before adding the journey to Vaughan.
