World Cup 2026’s group stage has ended. This page reviews its format, Canada’s fixtures and Canadian broadcast arrangements rather than providing daily live updates. FIFA’s format document specifies 48 teams in 12 groups of four, with three group matches per team and 72 matches overall. The old figure of 36 was incorrect. The preserved official records place group-stage fixtures on local dates from June 11 to 27; this historical schedule is not a future tournament or a current ticket offer. FIFA. FIFA.
The top two teams in each of the 12 groups, plus the eight best third-placed teams, advanced to the Round of 32. The Round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final stages followed. Third place therefore meant neither automatic elimination nor automatic qualification. The format establishes the rules, but cannot by itself establish that a particular team had qualified on an unfinished matchday, or turn a Round of 32 fixture into a Round of 16 match. FIFA.
Canada’s Group B records are a 1–1 draw with Bosnia and Herzegovina in Toronto at 15:00 local time on June 12; a 6–0 win over Qatar in Vancouver at 15:00 on June 18; and a 1–2 loss to Switzerland in Vancouver at 12:00 on June 24. FIFA lists the Toronto venue as Toronto Stadium; the City of Toronto identifies it as Toronto Stadium at Exhibition Place. Canada’s other two group matches were at BC Place Vancouver. Check date, teams, venue and score together, without filling gaps from an old future-tense article or an unsupported scorer claim. FIFA. City of Toronto.
Distinguish the venue’s local time from the viewer’s location. Canada–Qatar on June 18 was recorded at 22:00 UTC, corresponding to 15:00 in Vancouver and 18:00 in Toronto. The June 24 match was at 19:00 UTC, or 12:00 in Vancouver and 15:00 in Toronto. These are conversions for two specific summer fixtures, not a single UTC offset valid all year or across Canada. Moving a clock value without checking its date and location can make one fixture appear to be two. FIFA. National Research Council Canada.
Bell Media’s June 3 announcement supports the Canadian broadcast account: all 104 matches on TSN and RDS, with additional coverage on CTV and on Crave through the live CTV channel. Complete TSN and RDS coverage did not establish that CTV showed every game, that every TSN+ plan included the tournament, or that every Crave package offered free access. Unsupported monthly prices, bundles and TVA Sports rights have been removed. Australia’s free SBS arrangement cannot be carried over to Canada. Bell Media.
A historical live-coverage announcement does not prove that every replay remains available, or establish current prices and free-access conditions. Use FIFA’s record to identify a completed match, then check what the relevant platform actually offers today; no subscription is guaranteed to be worth buying for an old fixture. For the Canadian host venue’s historical scope, see the BC Place World Cup hosting and venue review. The 2015 BMO Field exterior photo illustrates the location, not 2026 seating, current transport or completed construction. FIFA. Bell Media.
