Canada's two World Cup 2026 host cities opened on successive days, but the tournament did not finish in Toronto and then move wholesale to Vancouver. FIFA records Toronto Stadium's opener on June 12 as Canada 1–1 Bosnia and Herzegovina, followed by Australia 2–0 Türkiye at BC Place Vancouver on June 13. Subsequent fixtures in the two cities overlapped. This is a historical account of the completed men's tournament, not a promotion for an upcoming west-coast stop. FIFA.
Canada's three Group B games did start in the east before its remaining two matches in the west. Canada beat Qatar 6–0 in Vancouver on June 18 at 15:00 local time, then lost 2–1 to Switzerland there on June 24 at 12:00. Vancouver's summer clock was 15 hours behind Taiwan: those kick-offs corresponded to June 19 at 06:00 and June 25 at 03:00 in Taiwan. That describes the national team's group-stage journey, not the end of Toronto's hosting or a claim that Vancouver hosted only Canada. FIFA.
Toronto hosted six games: group matches on June 12, 17, 20, 23 and 26, followed by Portugal's 2–1 Round-of-32 win over Croatia on July 2. Vancouver hosted seven: group games on June 13, 18, 21, 24 and 26, then the Round of 32 on July 2 and the Round of 16 on July 7. Its final match ended Switzerland 0–0 Colombia, with Switzerland advancing 4–3 on penalties; the shoot-out score must remain separate from the match score. Both cities hosted a Round-of-32 game on July 2, which contradicts a simple one-way hosting handover. FIFA.
BC Place's February 4, 2024 hosting announcement already adopted the tournament name BC Place Vancouver and set out seven planned matches. A second Canadian venue had not suddenly been added just before kick-off. Venue names, host cities and match dates are different facts. An old headline about shifting attention establishes no naming exemption, uniform capacity or new admission rule. BC Place / City of Vancouver.
Canadian broadcasting was also available at the time, but the old claim that CBC and TSN both carried the entire tournament was inaccurate. Bell Media's original June 3 announcement assigned all 104 full matches to TSN and RDS, with selected games on CTV and Noovo. Crave streamed selected CTV coverage, while TSN+ offered additional multilingual options. Different channels and platforms do not imply every match was free or that replays remain available today.
