Vancouver’s off-stadium World Cup 2026 viewing programmes have ended. This review uses original city, organiser and venue documents to compare the official Fan Festival, South Flats and GRETA. They offered different access arrangements: free entry could have capacity limits, a booking could cover just one match, and food or reserved seats could cost extra. The earlier unsupported promise of 30 recommendations, claims of personal visits and a citywide minimum spend are withdrawn. An old event page remaining online does not mean its programme is available today.
The official FIFA Fan Festival was based at the PNE grounds in Hastings Park. The City’s June 4, 2026 announcement listed 28 event days between June 11 and July 19, rather than daily opening throughout that interval. Its March 17 ticketing announcement distinguished free site entry from the amphitheatre’s general viewing floor, then estimated at 2,600 people per match on a first-come basis. Paid premium options included reserved seats and fast-track entry. That estimate concerned one area, not daily attendance across the site or a guaranteed place for an individual. City of Vancouver. City of Vancouver.
The festival’s own rules also contradict the idea that outdoor viewing always permitted picnics, dogs or chairs. Ordinary lawn chairs and outside food or drinks were prohibited, with specified exceptions for mobility aids, special dietary needs and infant foods; only certified guide and service dogs were allowed. Free general-admission visitors could re-enter only if capacity permitted, without priority. Premium day access had separate re-entry guarantees. These were that festival’s historical conditions, not shared rules for every bar, community venue or BC Place. Vancouver Host Committee.
Low Tide Properties hosted Game Days at 1155 East 6th Avenue in South Flats. Its introductory text promoted June 11–13 and June 18–21, while the preserved detailed schedule also listed June 24. Those sections should not be flattened into either ‘only seven days’ or ‘every day of the World Cup’. They document advertised arrangements, not proof that every session took place as planned. Screens, food trucks and a licensed drinks area were advertised; free entry did not make refreshments free, nor did family-friendly programming mean every children’s activity ran on every date. Low Tide Properties.
The Game Days FAQ made tickets match-specific, with entry guaranteed only until 15 minutes after kickoff. Later arrivals joined standby, subject to capacity. Staying for a following match required the corresponding ticket; visitors without a valid ticket for the current match could be asked to leave. Seats remained first-come, without a particular seat being reserved by the ticket. Under-18s needed an accompanying adult. Its permission to bring snacks and non-alcoholic drinks also did not apply to the Fan Festival. Low Tide Properties.
GRETA Vancouver’s own page lists June 11–July 19, 2026 at 50 W Cordova St and now marks the event as passed. The venue advertised opening for all tournament games and group arrangements with reserved seating, table service and customised food and drink packages. This records the venue’s offer, not a first-hand audit that every match was screened. The original document does not support the earlier free BC Place shuttle or a universal bar minimum spend or quiet, comfortable experience. Those guarantees are removed, and its old booking button is not presented as a current World Cup service. GRETA Vancouver.
These three formats require separate checks of dates, admission, match-specific tickets, seating and refreshments. “Free” should not be mistaken for a paid reserved seat, and a tournament date range is not a daily opening schedule. To compare another historical community programme in Greater Vancouver, read the Richmond World Cup community-viewing review and check each venue’s original announcements. For a new gathering today, use that new event’s conditions rather than temporary arrangements from June and July 2026.
