If you will be driving Highway 1 through Abbotsford at night, the useful question is not whether the whole highway is closed. It is whether the particular ramp you need will be open.
B.C.’s Ministry of Transportation and Transit says overnight traffic patterns at the Highway 1 and Highway 11 interchange will change in two stages beginning July 27. The work prepares the site for demolition activity within the Highway 11 Interchange Project. This is not a blanket daytime closure, but travellers moving between Metro Vancouver, Mission and Abbotsford should identify whether their route uses an off-ramp or an on-ramp before leaving.

The most practical way to read this notice is as a temporary change in how the interchange works, not simply as a five-minute delay. The speed limit on Highway 11 will be reduced to 50 km/h, and the province warns that weather-dependent work can shift the schedule. The advisory promises signed detours but does not publish a permanent street-by-street route. Following the signs on the night and checking DriveBC is more reliable than copying a fixed route from an older social post.

There is other work on Abbotsford roads at the same time. The city’s closure list includes work near Clearbrook Road and Lonzo Road, among other locations, so the last few kilometres of a trip may be slower even if your chosen Highway 11 ramp is open. For an airport pickup, a shift start or a timed reservation, checking live conditions just before departure is more useful than assuming traffic will be light because it is late.
