Work at Highway 1 and Highway 11 in Abbotsford generated several different diversion notices; the July notice is not a lasting route map. Reviewed on October 8, 2026, this article preserves the late-July/August, September and early-October advisory periods. Their announced temporary windows have passed, but that alone is not evidence that construction finished or a ramp reopened. The URL is retained; check a notice’s date and direction before using it.
The province’s July 24 notice scheduled the eastbound Highway 1 off-ramp to Highway 11 to close July 27–30, nightly from 9 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. The on-ramp to Highway 1 was to remain open, with a detour provided. This concerned the eastbound exit, not a closure of the entire highway or every interchange ramp.
The same notice scheduled the Highway 11 on-ramp to westbound Highway 1 to close August 4–11, from 8:30 p.m. until 4:30 a.m.; Friday and Saturday nights used 9 p.m.–7 a.m. The off-ramp to Highway 11 was to stay open. Highway 11 beneath Highway 1 was scheduled for one lane each way, normally 9 p.m.–5:30 a.m., or until 7 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights. The 50 km/h limit and weather caveat belonged to that construction notice, not a permanent citywide rule.
The September 9 advisory described changes starting as early as September 10: the existing loop from northbound Highway 11 to westbound Highway 1 would close permanently. Drivers would instead turn left at a new temporary signal, using the existing southbound on-ramp. It also listed closure of the westbound Highway 1 climbing lane at Riverside Road. The old loop and replacement access are different facilities; the end of August’s temporary window does not establish that the old ramp reopened.
The October 1 advisory announced a different temporary window, October 2 at 9 p.m. through October 5 at 5 a.m. The new on-ramp from northbound Highway 11 to westbound Highway 1 would close temporarily, with a Marshall Road/McCallum Road detour; Highway 11 beneath Highway 1 would have one lane each way. It listed construction limits of 50 km/h on Highway 11 and 80 km/h on Highway 1, subject to weather-dependent timing. This is a record of an elapsed notice, not a closure alert for tonight or confirmation of today’s speed limits.
The Highway 11 Interchange project page describes interchange and overpass replacements, roughly 2.1 km of widening, HOV/EV and bus-on-shoulder lanes, with anticipated completion in 2031. An anticipated year is not a guarantee. The City of Abbotsford road-closure list separately dates each location and restriction, so July’s Clearbrook or Lonzo examples are not carried forward as October conditions. Check the provincial highway and the final city-road segment separately.
When planning, identify the direction, entrance or exit and original notice date; then check current events on DriveBC and posted signs. Follow traffic-control personnel and allow a buffer. The Vancouver guide provides trip context, not live traffic. The retained AI-generated highway illustration is not an exact ramp layout, prescribed detour, construction photograph or evidence of current access.
